Court set to rule on assassins of late Prosecutor General


Cairo Criminal Court on Saturday set a June 10 session to issue its verdict against the defendants charged in the assassination of late top prosecutor general Hesham Barakat.

Sixty-seven defendants are standing trial for killing Barakat, 15 are being tried in absentia, while 52 defendants are in custody.

Barakat died of his injuries after a car-bomb attack in Cairo on June 29, 2015. The car bomb struck his convoy as it was leaving his home in Cairo.
